Do Now on 9/29

Wiki Do Now
Editorials. Many of you may have heard the term before but what exactly is it? Editorials are articles that present an opinion tied in with valuable information. Many editorials can be found online, in newspapers, or even magazines. For instances, I'm sure most "fangirls" have seen these before, such as the latest "Do's and Do Not's" of fashion featuring their favorite celebs! But don't worry boys, editorials are in sports too! Sometimes people may read "recaps" and not realize their editorials! In the end it's all about the opinion created.

This brings us to our next subject of the feared Wikipedia! Some of us may have heard our teachers forbid the idea of using it as a source. Their reasoning would be that it is not considered a scholarly or a credible source. Some teachers even say it's absolutely preposterous and shouldn't be considered a credible source due to the fact that "anyone" can edit. However, every teaching style is different with different reasoning to not allow the use of Wikipedia, Although some may overlook that all information added requires a citation or credible source, some may just prefer scholarly articles overall found within databases. All in all, I personally believe that the use of scholarly articles within databases is what is expected at the collegiate level and that most teachers are trying to prep their students for collegiate expectations

After reading this article I must say it in all honesty that it did not change my opinion. I always knew for myself that Wikipedia required credible sources and was not a completely uncreditable source. However, I still strongly believe that scholarly articles should be relied on more for mass amounts of research than Wikipedia. Although I must say that within this article I've discovered many fascinating facts. Also, the commentary from prestigious people added an excellent persuasive effect.
